Out of the Broom Closet
Last week, I racked my brains a bit about what to write. This week, I don’t have to – thanks to Momma Witch, Soraya. She has been my inspiration this week following a conversation we had where I mentioned that we had actually met around 20 years ago when I came for a reading with a colleague from work! I genuinely thought I had mentioned it, but apparently not!
Shortly after this, my inner witch ‘popped’ and begun to emerge. I had no idea that Soraya was a witch, and had just been given her details from my friend at work! So I was in my early thirties when I began to emerge from the Broom Closet!
At the time, I did have to keep it to myself and wasn’t sure about sharing with anyone, so I bought a few books (Soraya’s included) and made my own way on the path. To be honest, I found the books interesting, learning about moons and seasons and sabbats etc, but when it came to spells, yes I had some books, but I never really used them. For me, they came as and when they were needed. Into my head. Herbs and flowers would just jump out at me (not physically!) and impress on me what they were for. I always thought this was normal for everyone.
I never felt the need to write them down and keep them for future reference – after all, who would I be giving them to anyway? My daughter and my other half are ‘Muggles’ so who would want them! Although my other half wasn’t in the picture back then.
I could go on and on about my history, but what I really wanted to write about this week are the rules. There are so many rules and so many perceived rules when it comes to being a Witch. Not necessarily coming from our own community, but the public at large.
So many ideas of what we should look like, how we should dress (i.e. goth like with purple hair and black Doc Martins etc) which for some is perfectly fine – it’s an individual thing – but for me I spent many a happy hour in jeans and tee shirts.
I never felt the need to buy a cloak, given that I’m not really into dancing skyclad out in the middle of nowhere.
(Anyhow, if I did, there would be reports of a lunar eclipse the next day!).
If that’s your thing then fine – but I don’t believe that we HAVE to participate in activities like this. There is a part of me that would like to experience it just the once, but…..
I don’t feel the need to be a part of a coven. I did have the opportunity several years ago, but it just didn’t sit well with me in my gut so I declined the invitation with love and blessings.
I think what I’m really trying to say is that, being a witch, means just being yourself. Apart from the Rede and personal responsibility, I don’t believe there are too many hard and fast rules.
Celebrate the Sabbats the way YOU want. If you want to write your own spells – go for it. They’re personal to you anyway so who cares if a couple of words don’t sound right or look a bit wonky! There isn’t a box that you have to fit in, so just be yourself – but whatever you do….
Keep the broomstick charged because you never know when the car might break down!

The Wisdom of Age
Lying around, pondering the problems of the world, I realized that, at my age, I don’t really give a rat’s ass anymore.
If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
A whale swims all day, only eats fish, and drinks water, but is still fat.
A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
A tortoise doesn’t run and does mostly nothing, yet it lives for 150 years.
And they tell us to exercise? I don’t think so.
A word from Soraya
I was on the phone yesterday, holding for ages and while waiting I put a comment of Facebook stating that as my pet hate and asked “Whats yours?”
66 people checked it out and 10 commented.
OMG, that made me feel quite miserable as I had given people the opportunity or the reason to think about things that annoyed them so I decided to change direction and put up “My favourite thing is watching my washing on the line blowing gently,” and asked “Whats yours?”
37 people checked it out and 2 commented.
Makes me think that folk would rather have a moan than think of something pleasant and that depressed me even more. All I can say is there is enough manure going around and I for one am going to stick with Happy Thoughts and hope that you do too. As my good friend Delina says all the time “HAPPY DAYS”.
Oh a word about Mels bit – if you are visiting her,
Do not bring spirits into the house unless they come in a bottle (mead is preferred)
Your Horoscope for the 15th-21st October 2017
What’s in the Stars for You
Your Horoscope for the 15th – 21st Oct 2017
This is a favourable but serious period while Saturn hangs around however although you may be required to toe the line this lunar aspect increases natural stability and brings opportunities for you to settle into a steadier and more harmonious pattern.
The Moon and Neptune with the addition of Saturn are still active in your chart. You will probably find yourself under influences that will either awaken the subconscious mind or give you very new and original mental abilities.
As the Moon enters the 5th House you are likely to find that your attitudes towards loved ones may undergo some kind of change enabling you to establish a secure sense of connection. This would be a good time to take up a new interest or hobby.
You know those episodes that we all occasionally have when we just can’t say exactly what we mean, it’s like brain freeze. You won’t feel like that as the Moon and Mercury activate excellent communication abilities. Speak up now.
As the Sun enters your 6th house you will look at how others manage matters concerning their career or business and whilst your mood may be low you can look forward to great improvements in your current position and in your general health and well being/
This is an extremely favourable period when all things new are highlighted. Your mood will be bright and hopeful and buoyant. You can just about try or do anything at this time as the planets are on your side.
Good vibes continue this week Libra and the position of the Moon indicates that you will experience some beneficial changes. Focus your attention on future plans and things that you can do to promote yourself and improve your future prospects.
Your sign is the most sensual in the zodiac and with this week’s planetary influence of the Moon and Venus will stimulate more than your emotions. You really don’t want me to go into great detail, do you Sandra Patterson? Hahaha.
I am very, very, tempted to miss you out this week as I hate having to say something negative and would prefer to give you the positive. So put off what you can, avoid arguments where possible, try to avoid having the last word and smile a lot.
This is for all Aqua’s but especially Fiona Smith. The Moon and Venus are in your chart until the 19th so be ready to make friends and form or deepen other relationships. Be active in your feelings as this is a good time for all affairs of the heart.
Three days just three days when things might be pretty miserable. Be careful who you share information or personal matters with as a confidence may be broken leaving you feeling upset and disappointed.
