I guess the Goddess is teaching me a valuable lesson – not to take things for granted.
I think that we all tend to do this in one way or another some of the time.
It could be anything from our work, the kids, our other halves…..anything.
I must admit I am guilty of it on many occasions, but let’s not beat ourselves up about it, we’re human and it’s a human trait. When we realise we’re doing it, then what…
This week, I have been racking my brains deciding what to write about. Most weeks, these flow reasonably well, but this week, for some reason, I have struggled.
The main thing I’ve found, is to be grateful, thankful for all we do have.
When I drive to work, it can get
a bit boring and so I usually
play a ‘game’ with myself.
Thankfully, there’s only me in the car so I don’t get strange looks,
except from myself!
Basically, as I drive to work, I speak out loud ten things that I am thankful for.
Basically, as I drive to work, I speak out loud ten things that I am thankful for. I try and mix it up and think of different things each day , but it really does make a difference. I find that I take many things for granted less these days. It makes me focus on the blessings that I have and the things that I am grateful for. To add a bit of perspective, however, all the things that we moan about – our house not having been decorated for a while, the carpet that we can’t afford yet, the job that annoys us, not fancying anything in the fridge and all the other daft things that irk us – over fifty percent of the population of the world can only dream of these things. We have so much compared to so many. I recall hearing a quote once (probably from Facebook!) that “Some people are so poor, that all they have is money”. This really makes us think. If we have food in our fridge, even if it’s just a couple of eggs and a bit of cheese – at least we aren’t starving. Sure, my house desperately needs work, but I have a roof over my head! I could go on and on!
Live in the present. When we dwell in the past, we think about what ‘might’ have been, the opportunities we missed and all the disappointments we have had. To live in the present, means that we dwell less on those things. We are more mindful of the things and people around us, and we can be grateful in the present, the here and now, and this way, bit by bit, we find that we take fewer and fewer things, and people, for granted.
So my challenge this week, is to try and think of ten things each day – morning or evening whichever suits – that you’re grateful for. State WHY you’re thankful for them and for the benefits they bring to your life. If ten seems too much, then do five, or even three! It’s your challenge, and…..let me know how you get on! With love and light Namaste Mel
Every story I create, creates me.
I write to create myself.
COMPLETE and FINISHED
No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words. In a recent linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly, the best in the world, Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes.
The final question was:
‘How do you explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand?’ Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED. Here is his astute answer:
“When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE.
When you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED.
When the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!”
A word from Soraya
Mel’s article reminded me of something that Witches Web Member Sioned did last year and its a good thing to do but what I really wanted to mention was Mel’s blessing at the end, Namaste.
I hear people saying it but I am sure may do not know the full meaning of it other than some who have taken Reiki Courses.
Namaste is usually spoken with a slight bow and hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointing upwards, thumbs close to the chest.
This gesture is called Añjali Mudrā or Pranamasana. In Hinduism it means “I bow to the divine in you”. Although in the West the word “Namaste” is usually spoken in conjunction with the gesture, in India, it is understood that the gesture itself signifies Namaste, and therefore, it is unnecessary to say the word while bowing.
We bring the hands together at the heart chakra to increase the flow of Divine love……
All of that is well and good but what does it really, really mean?
It means That I am connected to you on the very deepest level, I share your love, your pain, your hurt, your joy, your laughter, and your sadness. Its is the most sensitive and beautiful thing that you can say to someone and more so when you know what it means as does Mel. When we say to you Namaste you will now know exactly how we feel.
Your Horoscope for the 8th October 2017
What’s in the Stars for You
Several planets pop in and out of your chart over the coming week and it looks as though the influence that they bestow on you is less than kind and may cause you to feel anxious until at least the 12th when things should improve.
This should be a fairly steady period for you Taurus with one minor visitation from Neptune. Awe well it takes a bit of variety to make life interesting and Neptune can certainly do that even if it may be odd.
Things are likely to speed up for you this week with the arrival of Mars in your chart and whilst this is positive in nature it may cause you to speak without thinking of what you are saying or who you are saying it too.
This would be a good time for you to curl up on the sofa with a cosy rug and a bit of self pampering because various planets coming in and out of your chart are less than beneficial.
The Sun comes into your sixth house making the focus of your attention all about carreer and business matter. Things should take a distinct turn for the better and as the planets move through your sign things will improve further.
Oh dear, oh dear, forget the soft music from last week. This week Venus is having a foot stomping tantrum. The only blessing is that other planets will soften the aggressive nature of this period.
A netter week for you than last week Libra. Mercury still plays a part in things but Venus softens the influence making this more of a social period for enjoying yourself. You will be busy though so keep a few spots free in your diary.
Mercury and Jupiter suggest that this is a good time for travel, friendship and for your general health and well being. You are likely to be more hopeful and free from anxiety, giving you an opportunity to learn more of the spiritual side of life.
First you have Mercury opposing itself (not good) and this will cause all sorts of communication problems and then just to annoy you further in comes the Moon and Pluto stimulating changes. Well, a good clear out never hurt anyone.
Things may not be as they should, but when you look back you will realise that everything happens for the best so don’t despair, just go with the flow. Jupiter will cast its benefits over you during this period and that will bring a peaceful frame of mind.
This could be a strange period and someone may go oversees or have an important engagement that causes a separation albeit temporary. Keep a low profile and avoid promoting yourself or your interests.
Woo Hoo the Moon and Jupiter make conditions right for the arrival of money and social invitations. Yes, this should be a happy and fulfilling period when you can plan for the future and look forward hopefully.
